Kathleen Held
Hemlock Creek Principal

As the principal I know I have the best job in the whole world! Everyday I get to come to work and work with the best staff, the best families, and best of all, the BEST children!

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I started teaching 5th grade in 1987 and eventually served as the K-6 elementary computer teacher/coordinator in the Forest Park School District in Crystal Falls, MI. In 1988, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Northern Michigan University located in Marquette, MI. I have been an elementary principal in the East Jackson Community School District in Jackson, MI, a 4K-4th grade principal in the Marinette School District and joined the West De Pere School District in 2007 with the opening of Hemlock Creek Elementary. The start of this school year, 2017-2018, will be my 31st year in education! Time does fly!

My husband Rob and I live in the West De Pere School District. I have two step-daughters Whitney and Kayla, who live in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. It is fantastic being a grandparent to Mila who will be 4, Ario who is 2 and a new grandson, Maksim, who was born on Sept. 1st. I am an avid Green Bay Packer fan!  When I am not at work, I like to travel, continue to learn new things and spend time with our Boxers, Benelli and Diesel. I am proud to be part of the West De Pere School District!

Michael Kowalczyk
Hemlock Creek Assoc. Principal
920-425-1900 ext. 3327

Hello, my name is Mike Kowalczyk. I have been the Associate Principal at Hemlock Creek Elementary since 2008. During this time, I have also served as the district's 4K director and most recently as the district's summer school director. Each adventure has brought new excitement and growth to my career that I have enjoyed very much.

My educational life has been a life long learning process. In 1993, I graduated from the Univ. of WI-Milwaukee with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education focused on special education. During the next fourteen years, I served in the special education departments in the school districts of Appleton, Algoma, and Luxemburg-Casco. I worked with students ranging from early childhood through ninth grade with a variety of needs. In 2004, I graduated from Cardinal Stritch University with a Master's in Educational Leadership. In 2008, I was blessed with the opportunity to join the West De Pere team.

In 1998, I married my lovely wife and best friend, Suzanne. Together we're raising three wonderful children, Katrina, Kaylee and Tyler along with our dog, Popcorn. We are very active in the community. You will often see us at plays, sporting events, coaching and/or different social events. The three teams that you fill find me cheering for the most are: The Green Bay Packers, The North Carolina Tar Heels and the West De Pere Phantoms.
