By Kathleen Held
I would like to take the time to share with you my excitement of opening the new elementary building and to introduce myself. I, Kathleen McMorris-Held, am the principal of Hemlock Creek Elementary School in the West DePere School District. I come to West DePere with 20 years experience as an educator. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, I taught for 14 years. Administratively I have 3 years experience as an elementary principal in Jackson, Michigan and 3 years as principal in the Marinette School District. I received my Masters Degree in Educational Administration in 1988 from Northern Michigan University. Personally, my husband Rob and I live within the school district in the town of Lawrence. I have two teenage step children, Whitney and Kayla, three dogs and am a huge Green Bay Packers fan.
I am looking forward to sharing the successes and will embrace any challenges that may arise with the opening of a new building. It will be an exciting year and I can’t wait to meet the new students, parents, colleagues and community members of such a fabulous district! Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or concerns. I will do my best to assist you and I look forward to seeing and working with each of you!
