MARCH STUDENTS OF THE MONTH 2007-2008

Ross & Kyle

Ross and Kyle were chosen by teachers at West De Pere High School as Students of the Month for March.

West De Pere High School is proud to announce the selection of Kyle Van Vonderen and Ross Christian as Students of the Month for March.

Kyle leads his class with a 4.0 GPA and has taken various AP, College Credit, and honors courses offered at West De Pere High School. During his junior year, Kyle was nominated by the English department for an NCTE Achievement award in Writing. Kyle’s writing skills have carried over to his work with the high school’s newspaper, The Phantom Times where he serves as the layout editor and to his work with the Green Bay Press Gazette as a correspondent and film critic.

Aside from his dedication to journalism, Kyle is also involved with several school organizations including SADD, FBLA, NHS, and the English Academic Team. Kyle is also a talented actor, having recently performed in the high school’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and having qualified for the State forensics meet for four consecutive years. At the State forensics competition in Madison, Kyle has won gold medals twice.

Kyle’s talents extend beyond drama and writing, however. He has been an integral part of the school’s cross country and track teams over the past four years as well as a black belt in Tae Kwon Do since 2003.

In the community, Kyle has volunteered for the Brown County Library, Our Lady of Lourdes parish, and the Boy Scouts, where he recently earned his Eagle Scout award.

Ross has been a shining star on the West De Pere stage over the past four years. His most acclaimed roles include Reverend Parris in The Crucible, Horton the Elephant in Seussical, and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ross has been an active member of the school’s Drama Club since his sophomore year and is currently serving as president.

In addition to his work with the theater, Ross has been involved in SADD, Student Council, Spanish Club, Yearbook, English Academic Team, and The Odyssey. His writing has been published in the Bay Conference literary magazine, Echoes Across the Bay.

While Ross’s multiple involvements in co-curriculars have succeeded in shaping his character throughout his high school career, he has also flourished academically. His transcript includes many advanced courses, and he has maintained a 3.97 GPA, making him eligible for membership in the school’s National Honor Society.

Ross is currently undecided as to which college he will attend next fall.
