NOVEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH 2007-2008

Casey & Garrett

Casey and Garrett were chosen by teachers at West De Pere High School as Students of the Month for November.

Casey ranks at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA and holds the position of National Honor Society vice president. Teachers who nominated Casey for recognition compliment her as being “a cheerful leader” and someone who “works hard but still has fun.” One area in which Casey truly excels is the dance. Pom team coach Jennifer Zurawski explains, “If Webster’s Dictionary contacted me about the definition of dedication, I would simply submit Casey Crevier’s name and photo. Casey puts 110% into her role as captain, and it is very apparent to anyone who knows her that the dance team is a very large part of her life. She is an extraordinary role model for her peers.” Serving as captain of this year’s team, Casey has been involved in the pom and dance team since her freshmen year was part of the 2006-2007 state championship team.

In addition to her work on the dance team, Casey is involved in a variety of clubs. She has been a dedicated member of the Phantom Times, acting as section-editor for the past two years. Casey is also active in SADD, FCCLA, and the English Team. This year Casey has also volunteered to be a Senior Mentor, spending time with a freshman who struggles with life in high school. Additionally, Casey was selected by her teachers last year to attend Badger Girls’ State.

Next year Casey will attend St. Norbert College.

Garrett is “one of West De Pere’s finest students,” as one of his teachers explains.

Garrett is well-respected as an athlete, holding the position of captain for both the football and baseball teams. A key member of the varsity football team, Garrett was named 1st Team All-Conference for both offense and defense this year. In addition to his involvement in football, Garrett has been involved in baseball and was given an honorable mention last year. Garrett was also a key member of the De Pere Legion team which won conference and state championships this past summer.

In the academic realm, Garrett is also a leader. His 3.95 GPA and dedication to advanced courses made him eligible for membership into the National Honor Society. History teacher and baseball coach Brian Schumacher says, “He is a coach’s and teacher’s dream because he is a self-starter and a genuinely great person to be around.”

Despite his dedication to athletics and academics, Garrett finds time to be involved in a variety of activities at the high school. He has been a part of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Varsity Club, and SADD, and is a Senior Mentor. In addition, Garrett volunteers at church and baseball camps.
