About West De Pere Theatre
The WDPHS Theatre Department is a growing program that allows students with a variety of talents to express themselves in a creative and fun way. Students new to theatre are always encouraged to apply for cast (acting on stage), pit band (playing instruments- musicals only), or stage crew (working backstage). Although the student time commitment can be extensive, students find theatre incredibly rewarding and a great way to make friends
Every fall, WDPHS prepares a One Act Play. Students attend local and state competitions and compete alongside other elite theatre groups from all over the state. Rehearsals are typically held Mon-Fri after school and run from September through November. A family and friends night is typically held in mid-November, which is free to attend and open to the public.
Each year, the winter production alternates between a Play and a Musical. Some past winter productions include: The Royal Bachelor, Sleeping Beauty and the Beast, and Legally Blonde The Musical. Rehearsal times vary and run from December/January to February/March. Three performances are held in late-February or early March and are open to the public. WDPHS students get in free with ID. General admission prices vary.
With all the free time students have in the summer, WDPHS typically prepares a larger-scale musical production. Some past summer musicals include: Shrek The Musical, All Shook Up, The Wedding Singer, and Once Upon a Mattress. Rehearsals are held Mon-Fri in the mornings and run from June through July. Three performances are held in late-July and are open to the public. WDPHS students get in free with ID. General admission prices vary.
