After his high school graduation from Southwest High School in Green Bay, Mr. Betts went on to get his Bachelor's Degree at Northern Michigan University, and played football. He was a three-year letter winner on NMU's football squads in 1973, '74 and '75. He led the team in total offense and was named Most Valuable Player in 1974. In his senior year, the Northern Michigan University Wildcats won the NCAA National Championship- and Mr. Betts was co-captain of the team. Mr. Betts was drafted by the New England Patriots and later signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He served as Hamline University Football Team's Offensive Coordinator, served as a football coach at New Mexico State University, and worked for three years as the Wide Receivers coach under Dave McClain, for the University of Wisconsin, Badgers.

In 1981, Mr. Betts began a 20-year career with the United States Marine Corps. His military career included stints as a naval aviator as a Cobra pilot and weapons & tactics instructor. Mr. Betts was qualified in many different types of aircraft, both fixed wing and rotor-wing. He has been deployed all over the world for many different situations during his military career; and during his military career, he also served as an assistant football coach at the Annapolis Naval Academy.
A retired Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Betts enjoys fishing, golfing and going to the races at Road America in the summertime, loves baseball, (a true blue Brewers fan), the Packers and really enjoys all high school sports. Mr. Betts is a history buff and enjoys reading historical accounts of the past. He lives with his wife (the apple of his eye), Vicki, their children, daughters Corey and Jenna, and their son Charlie, in Green Bay.
