Ms. Jurkowski graduated from Glen Flora High School in Glen
Flora, Wisconsin. It is no longer in existence as it has merged with
Flambeau School District in Tony, Wisconsin.
In 1972, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in
English and a minor in History, from Mount Senario College in Ladysmith,
Wisconsin. She graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a Masters Degree in
Special Education-Learning Disabilities. Since graduating from UW-Eau
Claire, she has earned an additional 51 graduate credits.
She started her teaching career by teaching Grade 2 at St.
Joseph's Parochial School in LaPorte, Indiana.
She started the Learning Disabilities program at West De Pere
High School for students in Grades 7-12 in January, 1975. She has now been
in the district for 32 years working on 33 years, and is currently Chair of the Special Education
Department. The best part of her job is the students!!!!!!
She is active in the West De Pere Education Association and is
currently President and Head Negotiator. She is also very
involved in church activities.
She has three grown children and eleven grandchildren. It is her philosophy that you can never have too many
children or grandchildren.

Her hobbies include reading, gardening, bird watching,
remodeling her home, enjoying life at West DePere (even though the yellow
portable has been destroyed), visiting her grandchildren, going to
her land up north, and traveling. She has traveled to England, France,
Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, and Hungary. In 1985, she studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow,
Poland for six weeks.
