REINY KLINGEISEN

Reiny Klingeisen and his wife of 10 years - Jodi Merritt

Reiny Klingeisen has been a counselor at West De Pere High School for 13 years!  He has gone through a lot of schooling and a lot of hard work to get to where he is now.  Reiny, as all of the West De Pere students know him, has definitely earned the positions he deserves.

Education

Reiny has earned his education at three different universities, going to school for a total of 8 years.  He started off by attending Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI in 1978.   Here, he earned a Bachelors of science in history with  minors in philosophy and religious studies.  He then continued his education at St. Francis School of Pastoral Ministry in Milwaukee, WI in 1983.   He received a masters in Divinity (theology).   In 1990, Reiny also attended Marquette University in WI where he earned a masters in education.  Recently, Reiny earned a Administrator's license at Marian College in Fondulac, WI. Also, Driver's Education at West De Pere High School.

Career

Reiny started his career as a Catholic priest.  He remained a priest for 8 years.   During this time, he was an Associate Pastor in West Bend, WI for 4 years.   For the remaining 4 years of this career, Reiny was a High School Chaplain at Pius XI High School in Milwaukee, WI.  While at Pius XI, he was a Freshman girls basketball coach for 2 years, and a J.V. girls basketball coach for 2 years -he compiled a 78-2 record.  After Reiny withdrew from priesthood, he received a job at West De Pere High School as a guidance counselor - where he is still presently working.  It has been 12 years since Reiny joined the WDP's staff!

As part of Reiny's occupation at West De Pere, he has also helped out with many extra - curricular  activities. He had been the J.V. girls basketball coach for 8 years since he has been at West De Pere.  He also coached the Varsity volleyball team for 3 years.  The Varsity team took first place in the Clintonville  Invitational.  Reiny was rewarded through his volleyball coaching experience by meeting his wife, Jodi Merritt (now married for 10 years!).  The first Varsity Volleyball trophy was won while Reiny was coaching.   In addition, Reiny is a leader (along with another co-worker) of West De Pere's Student Outreach and mentors.  This group is composed of many young, and talented high school students.  The purpose of this group is to help out classmates who are having problems at home or at school, or even just personal problems.  So far this year, the group has gone on a 2-day retreat to learn how to help their peers in times of need.  The mentor program matches seniors with freshman to help them have a successful first year. This program has since been modeled by Bayport and Southwest High School. Mock Accident Program?!

Accomplishments

So far at West De Pere, Reiny has accomplished many useful things for the future of our students.   First off, Reiny has been the head of the guidance department for the last 7 years; this is his own personal accomplishment.  His accomplishments for our students is even greater.  Reiny created 5 things that will help West De Pere students in their future.

  1.   He developed new scheduling programming guides.  These are booklets full of the classes and their descriptions. This book is very convenient when students are choosing their classes.

  2.   He created a Career Pathway Book.  This is also a booklet that helps students choose classes that will benefit in their future career.

  3.   Portfolios.  Reiny put together portfolios for each student in the school.  These portfolios are filled with the students best works; anywhere from papers, tests, to artwork.  In the student's future, these portfolios can be presented to show future employers his/her capabilities.

  4.   Reiny also provides a career major plan for the students.  Each student receives a sheet of paper with his/her career on it.  It is then filled with classes that will help this student's career dreams come true.

Reiny has improved our guidance department and has become a great part of the student's education

As you can see, Reiny's hard work and dedication has gotten him extremely far.  He has accomplished many things so far in his career.  Hopefully this dedication continues to prosper and everything he works for and dreams of comes true.  After all, he has helped so many students at West De Pere.  Not only has he helped students reach their goals, but he has also showed them the way to achieve them!
