Education:
I graduated in 1975 from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education and Industrial Safety Engineering. I received my Masters in Education from Eastern Oregon University in 1991. I completed my administrative training at Washington State University in 1994.
Career:
I've had three careers; industry, education and the military. After graduation at Platteville, I worked for ten years as a Loss Control Consultant for Hartford Insurance Company, utilizing my safety engineering education. During this same time frame, I began a twenty-seven year career in the United States Army National Guard and Reserve. I recently retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
I have spent nineteen years in education. I have taught at both the middle school and high school levels. I have taught industrial education (woods, metals, welding, construction, and technology ed.), physical education, health, driver education, math and career education. I have spent twelve years in education administration. I have worked as an assistant principal for student services, assistant principal for curriculum & instruction, and as a district director in the area of student activities.
Designations & Awards:
I have attained the highest recognized professional designation in the area of student activities in the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association - "Certified Master Athletic Administrator". Only 160 athletic/activity directors in the United States hold this certification. I was selected as the Oregon State Athletic Director of the Year.
Family:
I'm married to Karen and have two children Scott and Chrissie. Karen was a Vice President of the world's largest cold storage-public storage company before moving into semi-retirement here in De Pere. Both Scott & Chrissie graduated from the University of Portland and have excellent jobs in Chicago and Milwaukee respectively.
We are proud to call De Pere home, and I'm proud to be the Student Activities Director for the PHANTOMS!
