DEAN ZIMMERMAN

Mr. Zimmerman grew up in the Wausau , Wisconsin area, graduating from D.C. Everest High School in 1983. While in high school, Mr. Zimmerman played trumpet in the band, played basketball, and competed in track as a high jumper. In 1987, he graduated from Carthage College with a Mathematics Major and a Coaching Minor. In 1988, Mr. Zimmerman completed a Computer Science Minor at UW-Stevens Point, while also substitute teaching in the Wausau area. 1988 also marked the start of his coaching career, as he served as a JV and Varsity assistant coach for Wausau West High School . However, the true "highlight" of that year was meeting his future better-half, Susan.

Mr. Zimmerman landed his first teaching position (and Varsity assistant basketball coach) in 1989 at Crystal Lake Central High School in Illinois , but only taught there one year due to the desire to relocate after getting married that summer. He then taught and coached at the high school level the next two years in Merrill , Wisconsin . Mr. Zimmerman then left the teaching profession for an opportunity to join the family business, Semco Windows and Doors Co. He worked various positions in the engineering department there for 8 years, getting a chance to apply his math and computer skills. Mr. Zimmerman managed to continue coaching some during this period at Merrill High School and also for the youth teams of his first son, Jon.

Missing teaching and coaching youth, Mr. Zimmerman decided to come back to the teaching profession in 1999 when he moved to West De Pere, and he was very glad West chose him and he chose West!! "West De Pere is a great place to live and the high school is one of the best around. The students, staff, and facilities are excellent, and the school is a perfect size to give all students an opportunity to get involved in activities of their choice." Since at West, Mr. Zimmerman has taught Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Tech Math, while also coaching the boy's JV basketball team.

Mr. Zimmerman's wife, Suzi, is an elementary school teacher by trade, but is currently doing a great job raising their three children, Jon 14, Tom 7, and Elle 3. Jon will be a freshman at West in fall 2005. "Wow, time flies!"

In his spare time, Mr. Zimmerman enjoys working on home-improvement projects and playing with his family in their backyard "park". He also enjoys Green Bay Packer football, watching college basketball, playing ping-pong and golf, and spending time in the Wisconsin Northwoods with his family during the summer.
