ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT

Participation Procedures – All participating athletes 5-8, should obtain the following items from the coach, school office, or middle school athletic coordinator and return them to the coach or athletic coordinator when completed:

• Athletic physical permit card or alternate year permit card (athlete must have a physical by a licensed physician every other year with April 1 being the earliest date of examination. Students must have a physical beginning in 5th grade.

• Handbook agreement signed by a parent/guardian and athlete.

• Emergency information card.

• Mandatory attendance by athlete and legal guardian at a “Code and Rules” meeting once per school year.

A student may not practice or participate in interscholastic athletics until the school has written evidence on file in the office of the items listed above.
The following procedures will be observed:

• All students will be encouraged to participate through a no cut policy.

• All team members will play during the contest, but players will not be guaranteed equal playing time. The exception for play time will be missed practices due to injury or illness; disciplinary reasons or limited roster contests.

• A student can request to switch sports within a season providing that both coaches and the Athletic Director mutually approve the switch..

• A student’s participation status shall be reviewed ineligible for interscholastic competition while competing as a member of a grade 7 and/or grade 8 team if he or she reaches his or her 16th birthday before August 1 of any given school year.
