Guest Wireless Network

The School District of West De Pere provides a guest network as a convenience for staff and students.  This wireless connection is provided "as-is" and we cannot guarantee that non-district devices can connect or stay connected.  Additionally, this wireless network is locked down from accessing district resources such as servers, printers, etc.  We provide access only to PowerSchool as an internal resource.

The district's Guest wireless network is protected by a username and password.  A valid network account is required in order to access Internet resources.  

The Guest wireless network is protected by encryption so that usernames and passwords are safe and secure.  The link below is a certificate that should be imported into your non-district device to reduce the amount of warnings received when connecting to the Guest wireless network.

The following procedures need to be performed BEFORE joining our Guest network.  The best place for that to take place is from your home wireless network.  Below are the import procedures for devices:

Apple iPhone, iPod, iPads Mozilla Firefox
Apple Macbook, Macbook Air Android Devices
Microsoft Windows 7, 8, and 10 Google Chromebooks

 

Apple iPhone, iPod, iPad
  • Open Safari and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and the following screens will appear on your Apple device.
  • Click Install on both of the screens.  Depending on your security settings you may be asked to put in your device's password.

                

Apple Macbook, Macbook Air
  • Open Safari and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and it will download to your computer's Download folder.
  • Navigate to your Downloads folder and you'll find a file named SW1.wdpsd.com.crt.
  • Click on SW1.wdpsd.com.crt and it should open a program called Keychain Access.
  • Once Keychain Access is open, double-click on the certificate to open its properties.  Click the arrow next to the word Trust and for the first option When using this certificate choose Always Trust.

Microsoft Windows 7,8 and 10
  • Open Internet Explorer and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and it will download to your computer's Download folder.
  • Navigate to your Downloads folder and you'll find a file named SW1.wdpsd.com.crt.
  • Double-click on the file and in the Certificate Window click Install Certificate.
  • The Certificate Import Wizard will start, click Next.
  • On the next screen choose Place all certificates in the following store, click Browse and select the 
    Trusted Root Certification Authorities, click Next
  • On the final screen click Finish.
  • A security warning will be presented asking if you want to install the certificate, click Yes.
Mozilla Firefox (Mac, Windows)
  • Open Firefox and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and a box will appear and ask if you want to import the certificate.
  • Make sure all three check boxes are selected and then click OK.

Android Devices (phones, tablet)
  • Open the browser on the phone and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and a box will appear to import the certificate.  You'll need to name the certificate and select VPN and apps and click OK

                    

 

Google Chromebooks
  • Open Google Chrome and navigate to this page (http://www.wdpsd.com/technology/guest-wireless.cfm)
  • Click on the Certificate link above and it will be placed in the Downloads folder.
  • In the address bar of Chrome navigate to chrome://settings-frame-certificates.
  • Click on Authorities and select Import.  Go to your Downloads folder and select SW1.wdpsd.com.crt.
  • A box will appear and ask if you want to trust the certificate.  Place checks in all three boxes and click OK.
