SUMMER SCHOOL 2008

April 8, 2008

Dear Parents, Guardians and High School Students,

The West De Pere School District is proud to offer a variety of courses for our students. Our goal is to meet the needs and interests of students in our district. All classes will be held at Hemlock Creek Elementary, Westwood Elementary, West De Pere Middle School, West De Pere High School, Phantom Knights Charter School and Comedy City.

We will again be offering tutoring and Fast ForWord for elementary students this summer. During the month of June tutoring will be offered at both Westwood and Hemlock Creek Schools during the morning sessions from 8:00-noon. Tutoring will also be available from 12:30-2:30 at the Phantom Knights Charter School during the month of June. (All afternoon tutoring all summer long will be held at the Phantom Knights Charter School, 300 S. 6th Street.) Tutoring from July 7-August 15 will be offered at the Phantom Knight Charter School. Sessions will be 8-10 a.m., 10-noon and 12:30-2:30 p.m. We will also schedule a Fast ForWord session during the tutoring time if your student (grades 2-5) would benefit from that experience. If your child is in attendance at the Community Center Day Camp and you wish for them to be in tutoring during the summer we can facilitate that process by providing assistance from the Community Center to the Phantom Knight Charter School and then back to the summer day camp program.

When planning courses we look at the success of previous offerings and recommended new courses. Registrations determine if a class will be held, so it is important that we receive registrations by May 2, 2008. Fee money is used to pay for materials used in the class and must be included with the registration form.

High School credit courses are also offered. We need to know how many students plan to take classes for credit during the summer months as soon as possible so that staff can be hired and materials ordered. We ask that you let the high school guidance department know if you are in need of credit courses this summer. If you find out that you do need summer school credit classes after May 2, 2008, please notify the guidance office as soon as possible. Credit courses that do not reach an enrollment of 10 or more probably will not be offered. Please return high school course registrations and fees to the high school guidance office.

The information in this booklet will allow you to register your child for Summer School 2008. Please read the General Information page carefully and keep this booklet handy as a reference for summer school information.

Thank you for considering the West De Pere Summer School Program. If you have questions, please call Westwood School at 337-1087 ext. 1323.

Thank you!

Mrs. Jo Boss, Administrator
West De Pere School District
