Although large in scale, Westwood is a close knit learning community. Teachers confer regularly with students, parents and each other. Topics of study are often integrated into other areas such as music, physical education, art and technology. Student’s expectations for learning and behavior are communicated in the Parent Student Handbook and the district website. Our families and volunteers are active participants at Westwood. On a daily basis volunteers can be seen assisting children and teachers. Students have the opportunity to participate in Student Council, help in the art room, and practice in the music room during lunch recess. Our learning community enjoys planning and participating in activities like St. Patrick’s Day Family Night, Read Across America Week, themed RIF distribution day, Student Council Spirit Days, Adopt a Family Program and Artist Residency programs. We have an active PTO who helps and supports our learning community. Together we help children learn and grow.
