Food For Phantoms
Our Mission
Our mission is to fight food insecurity and hunger in our community so that students can learn and thrive.
How We Gather
Food 4 Phantoms is completely funded by donations from local individuals and organizations. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Mike Vanden Bush (mvandenbush@wdpsd.com)
How We Began
In spring of 2025, we saw an increase in need in our district. At the same time, some local organizations that families had relied on in the past were struggling. We decided that we were uniquely positioned to help, so a group of volunteers began meeting to organize and document student-family focused food assistance.
How We Work
Food 4 Phantoms uses four avenues to provide assistance:
- Emergency Food Boxes - Items received from district food drives are arranged into food boxes to be given to families in urgent need of food assistance. Food boxes are often paired with donated gift cards (when available) to purchase perishable food items.
- Weekend Food Bags - Food 4 Phantoms recently partnered with De Pere Christian Outreach and Festival Foods to receive weekly donations to provide easy-to-prepare meals for students over the weekend.
- Holiday Meal Program - The vision of Food 4 Phantoms includes the development of a Holiday Meal Program to provide a meal for families over the holidays. We hope to have this in place soon.
- Lunch Account Assistance - Each year, concerned citizens offer to donate to the district to help pay for overdrafted lunch accounts. F4P will help direct those funds and coordinate these efforts.
If you are a West De Pere School District family and could use help, please contact Heather Propson (hpropson@wdpsd.com) or Sabrina Esala (sesala@wdpsd.com)
